Hi,

Never sure where these things go so law it is...

I have a DBS and although it is only 18 months old I need to get a new one.

Do I simply go through the motions of starting a new one or use the update service? I thought the update one was for those that have ‘online’ DBS ?

Mightily confused (as usual)

Thanks

Who says you need a new one? Maybe a different kind is needed- eg a fuller check. The DBS update service is worth having- saves having several DBS certs as others can view it online

OMG. Just OMG.

I did it on the first go. I even managed to get a verification in place as well.

The you.gov DBS page must be stupid people idiot proof and I’m verifiable as to that.

I have to have a new one every 18moths as you have to have one on a lot of productions nowadays.
Yes, you will have to pay an annual fee of £13 but it's cheaper than taking out new checks every 18 months. I don't understand though why we can claim income tax back on it as to me it's an essential cost of employment- no different to a uniform or subscription to professional body, for example

I have to get the £23 one every 18 months so can’t use the online update able one.

I write it off in my tax return... which by the way I haven’t done yet :(

Applied at 2.35pm yesterday and got notification the certificate was in the post at 2.05pm this afternoon. 23 hrs 30minutes. Is that a record I wonder?
