Purchased a game for nintendo switch. Box was sealed but when I opened it at home, there was nothing inside. The person who served me denied I had been in the store that day even though I showed my confirmation text and email. I left humiliated

Of course you're entitled to a refund if the goods you purchased weren't "as described". (i.e. you didn't ask to buy an empty box, you asked to buy a game). Do you have a receipt?
Take your complaint to a higher level, i.e. management.

Assuming that the store is part of a chain, contact their head office and insist that they refund you or, if they initially refuse to do so, that they review their CCTV footage to show that you made a purchase in the store on that date.

Given that gaming stores shouldn't have been trading for the past few weeks though (unless, say, you're referring to the electronics section of a supermarket), it's hard to see how you made your purchase in the first place.

Thanks everyone. I do have a receipt via email i rang their customer services number and waited 2 hours only to be told they cant do anything and said i should contact my bank. Bank said its a store issue. And so it goes on....
didn;t you notice the box was a little light,
surely they can give you the proper goods if you have
receipt....
Just have to keep on the case wook . I.e keep on the case and keep on chasing.
My reply would have been OK, See you in court.
Yes a letter proposing court action will probably get a response.
Almost definite. They don't like their name in the papers for being dragged into court.
Best course of action is attack IMO WB
//The person who served me denied I had been in the store that day//
how bizarre
It works every time tony.
wook think you need to give them 7 or 14 days to reply.
from what we've been told it should be a straightforward refund or exchange.
Yes Boaty done it myself, seems stores don't like you standing outside, explaining to prospective customers the problems you are having, always works.
Too right tony. That also brings them to heel.
Boaty I don't have a problem doing it, wife is always against it, she tries to avoid any arguments, I just stand up for my rights.

Might be worth contacting your council's trading standards. Particularly if there have been other complaints.
Why a receipt via email .So you went to store showed this to person behind counted ,they were satisfied .who took item from shelf or where ever it was and brought it to counter. Is this usually the way purchases are made in this shop . No relevance I’m just a nosey git .
