Had some work done on my windows, agreed to a price of almost £600, was told by company the work would take all day. One man came and took three hours to do the work. Feel I have been charged too much although the work was done as per estimate. Can I claim a refund? It seems a lot of money for a smaller job than I thought it would be. Thanks all.

Depending on the materials involved. Unfortunately you agreed the price beforehand. Buyer’s beware....
you'll struggle, you were happy with the price and the job was done. The fact it took less time than was estimated is irrelevant.
Did that include the price of the materials. You were happy with the price and they did it faster than expected. Thats good isnt it??
IF the work had tken longer would you have been prepared to pay more? No you wouldn't, so just be glad all the work was done swiftly and done as per Estimate.

Thanks all, that’s what I wanted to know.
you agreed the price
actually I dont think it is bad
It does seem a lot for three hours work, but you agreed the price beforehand. You cannot expect anything back unless the work was not up to standard, if it was not, complain to the company and ask for some money back.
//It does seem a lot for three hours work//

How much of it was for the work and how much was for materials?

If being charged £600 for a days labour then that was excessive too so I suspect it includes parts.

When you are on a job there are a lot of overheads that are static. You have to get there and back, go collect the materials, do the paperwork and accounts, pay for insurance advertising and your van and tools.

Probably find the hourly rate is actually minimal.

The work was apparently done to your satisfaction? Pay up then.
