very funny whickerman. Im serious. I was going through the stationary order book and they had red legal tape. Obviously where they get the saying red tape but why this colour?
maybe its because its the solictors birthday happy birthday spanner
I have no idea about the reason for the colour, but a brief tied up in pink string by a solicitor is to indicate that it is ready for court to the barrister. Its also very handy when you have a massive pile of papers to be able to search through them quickly without the papers going everywhere. Barristers also never take a briefcase to court so the briefs have to be tied so that they can easily be carried.
defence briefs have red (pink) tape, prosecutiuon have white tape on their briefs. an old tradition as far as I know
