Bought a car but the owner will not provide log book??!!
Hi, My friend bought a car in Aug from an acquantance and has been paying for it in instalments which he has just finnished paying for. When he got the car he drew up an agreement and got the owner to sign off each payment made.
Now he has finnished paying for the car the owner is witholding the Log Book as my friend owes him a couple of hundred quid which he was lent for something else...he also has an agreement for this and is uptodate on the payments. Where does he stand legally? How can he get the log book? What would you suggest??

If he has notified the change but failed to hand over the papers, then your friend can get a replacement/duplicate from the DVLA.
I'd suggest contacting the DVLA.
The 'log book' doesn't mean that much - it is not evidence of ownership.
