Hi , 2 days ago my child was head-butted on the nose at school by a boy a year below her, the police have been involved, but they said if he's not 10 then they really cant do much to him, is there anything else i can do as this is toatally unacceptable, please help

The child is below the age of criminal responsibility, so there is nothing the police can do.

However, it happened on school property in school time and the school does owe a duty of care to all the children.

I suggest you make an appointment to see the head teacher and express your concern. You want assurances that this boy has been chastised within the school system and measures are in place to ensure there will not be a repeat.

Make sure you ask the head to send a report of the meeting to you as a follow up.

thanks for your reply, the school excluded the boy for 2 days and he will be back on monday, he admitted what he had done with no remorse, the school feel thats all they can do, as for my daughter she might be facing a operation on her nose! i feel so angry that this can happen at school, where my child is supposed to be safe. As for the boy he's only been at the school for 3 weeks as he was expelled from his previous school, i'm trying to find out why ?

can you claim against the school for your daughters probblem,i would try just to make school realise,i have a disabled son who headbuts any 1 and every 1 (hes deaf)school had to tellall parents ,about my sons problems,not been big headed but they know me and kyes problem,im well known in my area,and all parents were fine,go to a solicitor sarah its free and your little princess might get something

thanks for your answer, the big problem is that i work at the school as an LSA, so i know all the kids, i work with a child with spinabifida,also with statemented children, this particular child is not statemented also if his agression was a problem the school should have appointed a lsa to be with him through his lunch hour to safe guard the other children, the child concerned is just a nasty little bully.
I think i'm going to contact the borough to find out why he was placed in another primary school, maybe he was expelled for this behaviour before,,,,,,,,,, the police are checking this as we speak,,thanks for your advice
