My sisters new neighbours have built a wall between their back gardens which is 8 feet + tall is this allowed? Sister is council tennant neighbours is owned. Can she complain to council or is this legal.

im almost sure they would have needed planning permission as the size of the wall is over 6ft id go to citizens advice if i were them....
Any boundary wall or fence over 2 metres high requires Planning Permission. Complain to the Council (Development Control department)

Could not have got planning permission or sister would have been notified. So thanks for help she can now complain to council to get their views on this. Thanks again.
Yes. The council may consider asking her to make a retrospective Planning Application which she would have the opportunity to comment on. Or potentially an order to reduce the height.
Height limits are 2m between private properties or 1m fronting to pavement/road.

BUT height is measured from ground level. If next-door's garden is on higher level than yours, a 2m fence on their side would be >2m when viewed from yours.

thanks nether edge but her garden is of equal levels same height both sides. She has now contacted council. Your information is good to know thanks.
