Drink Driving or Death by careless or dangerous driving, you have not got a chance, even in the Met, where they take on actual criminal convicts.
If it was a bit of speeding or insurance etc, as long as the conviction is spent, I do not see a problem.
Good luck.

Depends how serious. The first thing they will check is your record so you have to be truthful. Speeding and having a noisy exhaust would not be a problem unless you never paid any fines and ended up in prison. Taking without concent or dangerous and reckless driving would as they are criminal offences.. Minor convictions like speeding become spent after ten years and would not appear on your record. Get a copy of your police record from your local court under the Data Protection Act and take it from there. It costs 10. I would suggest talking to your local bobby might help.
I'm not sure aqbout West Yorkshire, but for the Met the guidleine for drink drive is one conviction at least 10 years ago.
Contact the recruitment department at West Yorkshire and ask them.
