I bought a property with my now ex-partner; the deposit used for the property was jointly saved (but in her ISA) - I provided my payments in cash which she used either to put into the savings account or otherwise, when we arranged the mortgage we did not ask for an unequal division in the property should we split. From the very beginning, I have maintained all the mortgage payments, insurance, standing charges etc. No one has lived in the property at all but I am maintaining it and keeping an eye on it. Since we split she is trying to claim half the equity (originally it was nearer 85% and my car!) even though she has made no contributions (except 50% of deposit) - how do I stand?
Thanks for the quick replies! We were not married; I am attempting to get a 'fair' settlement as I see it this would be 50% everything including responsibilities/outgoings that we signed up to; her solicitor has tried to claim approx 75% of equity whilst ignoring all outgoings!
