Yesterday I posted a question in this section 'who is at fault' see a few posts down. when I phoned the woman up this morning to get her insurance details off her she said that she could not give them to me as she had just renewed her insurance and didn't have any paper work.Does anybody think that this is just a bit dodgy or some coincidence that her insurance was up for renewel the same date she crashed into my car. I told her that I would ring her up on Monday to get the details but if she can't give them to me then, should I go to the police. I have only been driving for just over a year and have never had an accident before so dont really know what I have got to do?

if she has just renewed her insurance she must know who with!! otherwise she must know who her old insurance was with if she had a accident the day it was up for renewal then surely she is still insured with the old one and not the new one and did she declare the accident to them when she renewed it. it is illegal for her to withhold details from you so phone your insurance up and give them her details and her address and phone number to them they will deal with it.
It does sound like she's trying to pull a fast one

As previously stated, phone your insurance company, pass them the details, and let them earn money you pay them.
Report the accident to the police - date/time/street/car reg details of both parties etc and get a report number. Give this number to your insurance company and yes let them do the rest. Perhaps she was making up a story as she didn't have any insurance in which case the police will want to know about it !
