driving whilst uninsured (without intention/mens rea)
i was stopped recently on my way to work and told i was not registered on the insurance on my vehicle. i was temporarily using the vehicle just for the day and my brother told me thath he wud put my name on to the policy for the day and i could drive after 8 am as this is when he would have done it. having being stopped i was told that i neede to produce my documents in seven days. i went to produce my document howveer not realising the policy started at 9.30am and not 8.15 when i got stopped!! i did not realise this and so didnt the receptionist at the police station. 6 months down the line i have now been told to attend court, i was unable to attend so wrote to them and was told that i did have a case for a special circumstnace and it has now been adjourned. - what is the likely punishment. i am 18 years old and have been passed for just over a year.

Lucky fella
As Ethel says these offences are absolute and there is therefore no need to show an intemtion not to be insured.
Lets not blow this up out of proportion Haha sorry little joke !
and stay insured - the last thing you want is to knock someone down when you have no insurance as then you have to pay yourself for years and years and years.
I was not insured in my little mo-mo van in 1980
and someone went into the back of me
(18 year old sort of small young fella)
and my first thought was not - yippee ! new back!
but it was - chrissakes, if HE is hurt, I will have to report to the Police and then I will get completely screwed
I sort of made sure I was insured after that

I was not intending to 'grass you up' to the courts.
I was going to evaluate all that courts recent sentencing for motoring convictions to establish why they are flagrantly ignoring current government guidelines.
By the way - it is 'balding', not 'bolding'.
And I didn't know you know me so well.
And don't forget to tell your insurance company you have a motoring conviction - it is part of the terms and conditions.

what a revolting and repugnant little runt you are.
clearly at 18 you feel you know it all and for some reason believed you would be ok for just one day - don't even try to bullsh*t your pathetic little sob story - you are an arrogant lying little fukcwit
and i don't believe for a minute you got away with it - you are just saying it to save face
you see, many people on here are a lot older and wiser that you, (probably everyone actually) and can smell the bs. we have heard it all before - all the ''oh, i didn't know'' etc etc - it doesn't wash on here - or in court - they will simply call the insurance company, they will have phone records of the time of the call and they will soon see whether you are telling the truth - they may also want to see brothers phone records.
and why would you get insured for just one day?
surely you could have just got a taxi for the day?
who does that?
you are like a child caught smeared with chocolate, that comes up with some ridiculous unbelievable and ill conceived excuse, who then has an indignant tantrum when he is not believed!
as for the vicky pollardesque drivel and lame attempts at insults below - 'balding...?' what kind of cretinous nonsense is floating round your head?
you do realise people on here are just laughing at the state of your mind, don't you?
you in no way sound formidable (look it up) or menacing - just childish.
you sound much younger than your 18 years - time you grew up.
you are a stupid liar, who got caught. well done... snigger.

joko, thanks for the best put-down I've read in a long time! ('formidable - look it up' - classic!) I thought this thread was interesting until the OP went off at Ethel like that. I've read many bits of extremely useful advice from her, and there was absolutely no need to reply as mokhans did. But you said all I would have liked to and more - restored my faith in AB!
