Poor Managment
My boss has put all the office workers names on a white board and we get ticks against them if we are late, were not sure what happens yet if we get 3 ticks but the rumors are a warning or the sack, is this legal?

If someone's consistantly late, the appropriate thing to do is to have a chat to that person in private and agree targets for acceptable behaviour or establish why the misdemeanor has occurred. However, the fact that it's an poor management style doesn't make it illegal.
Thanks for your answers, he is also raving on about too many people being ill, the following points were recieved in an email and he is threatening us with them if there is any more sickness.
1 any lateness will not be tolerated [in the slightest],
2 no flexibility with working hours [dental appointments etc].
3 I shall start monitoring performances on a daily basis
4 No departing at 5.30 when calls are outstanding
5 No misuse of the company resources [Internet & Mp3 players for example]
6 No mobiles [your families should all have the company phone numbers for any issues] and no work time personal calls
7 Specified break times (mid morning, lunch and mid afternoon - only)
8 A clear desk policy [no food included]
9 No alcohol during working hours [at lunches]
10 Enforcement of work during lates
11 No social discussions during working hours unless on a break
12 Accounting for every hour with records of work and deliverables
I know most of these are perfectly fair but a bit harsh but would you be happy with recicving these threats because some people were off sick?

i dont think any of them are illgal, more common sense. How ******** must the workforce be to have to have these things stated to them ... clearly someone has been taking the pee for far too long, and the manager has flipped. Bear in mind that managers are also under pressure for performance targets from their managers too and if they see time being wasted talking on phones/going for breaks/chatting etc then it seems sensible to cut down on this
