For that sort of sum they are going to appoint debt collectors who will trace you (Post box address or not) and pursue you for the money here.

If you don't have it they can't collect it obviously but they will have a good try.

Not sure whether US immigration will get told or not. It's feasible they will take you to court in the USA initially - you fail to show, obviously, and get a record - maybe for fraud if the address you gave was false. So they could have a record of you as being a non-appearer in court.

If you can afford to go back to the US you can afford to pay at least some of it.
To obtain a PO address you must have advised your physical address to the Royal Mail. They in turn will disclose this upon request or a court order.
Blimey what did you have - a heart transplant ???
That's the reason for travel insurance. You owe it. You should pay it. If you can't - for whatever reason - then you have to 'fight' it. But don't complain - you should have had insurance. There's no excuse whatsoever! If you can afford to travel to the USA then you should have paid for your insurance. Until the USA have an NHS like what we have.. poor old Hillary Clinton - she did try!
