I am sole benficiary in my later mother's will with probate granted. The will has been challenged by a brother. I've discovered this week that the lawyer working for me has been struck off by his profession for misappropriately clients' funds. I do not feel I've received advice though I've paid 15,000 to this lawyer. I am no nearer knowing where I stand, what to expect legally, nor nearer to an end to the matter. All that's been achieved is some very good witness statements proving my brother wrong. In the absence of knowing what happens next, I don't feel I've received value for money. 15,000 for 6 witness statements? What should I do about it? Please someone advise me.

Im not a solicitor nor qualified in any way to give advice that may be best for you. However, if it were me, Id do two things immediately: Id contact the Law Society and Id contact the Serious Fraud Office (as the amount involved is over 5000. It sounds as if you may possibly have a case where the stricken-off solicitor has obtained funds by deception. I do wish you luck. Heres the law society link:

I would take the advice of the Law Society
they may bea bit coy about complaints but remember they also will look at disputed bills - and I think youshould dispute this one !
