Driving ithout due care and attention

I was involved in a minor traffic accident on the 14th dec 2007 and the officer involved said i would be most probably be charged with driving without due care and attention, i still have heard nothing regarding the incident, is this normal? Whats the standard waiting time?

They have 6 months to get the summons to you -so plenty of time yet
