I had a bank account for a few years with bank "A" and set up a standing order for 25 per month. One day, I drew out my moddest amount of money via the hole in the wall and went in to see the teller to get the remaining 98p. of my money, or whatever it was, and explained to her I now wish to close my account. She gave me the 98p. remaining, and quickly prepared a form stating "Account Closed" and I signed the form to state "Account Closed". I was then without a bank account for some days, without any money in any bank, and oweing no money to any bank or any other business. As simplistic as it sounds so far please read on, and I'd be grateful of any advice.
From bank "A" I went to another bank, bank "B" and opened an account to put my wages in. A historical fact is that the 25 per month standing order I once arranged with bank "A" was infact an error in as much as it should of been 25 per week but no probs an no harm done, I sorted that out and set up a standing order with bank "B" this time being careful enough to make it 25per WEEK. Job done. But then I noticed on my minni statement a strange occurance of the odd 25 being taken out here and there ( - appart from the regular 25 per week)
I went into bank "B" to enquire if they had an explanation for this - as I had not ! After they'd done a bit of digging I was informed "Ah yes here it is, that's a standing order you set up with bank "A" Eh? WOT ???!!!! I told them to cease and not to repeat that move from now on, and they have done so. What do you make of that? My knowledge and grasp of financial ins and outs can be a bit wanting, but I think I'm owed an apollogy and repairation of said funds. Can anyone illucidate ? Many Thanks in Advance.
