Hello,

What would the penalty be for displaying car number plates that are not in the legal font ?

Thanks in advance.

80 fine.
Judging from the number that I see each week on the roads, this doesn't seem to be actively enforced.
Just out of interest (I'm not having a go, I'm really interested) why would you want to do so?
Driving with illegal number plates is not something that should be taken lightly. Motorists can be fined up to 1,000 for displaying an illegal number plate and a number plate supplier could be fined up to 5,000 for carrying on business whilst unregistered.

Although it is usually dealt with by Fixed Penalty Notice or a Vehicle Defect Rectification Notice
I see dozens of blatant ones.

How about "BIG JED"

I saw this which should read B16 JED but the 6 had a bit missing to look like a G.

The police do bu55er all.

One near us on an Aston Martin "DORIAN" clear as you like, a local bighead called Dorian,

The number should be DOR 14N
It is amazing what you can achieve with different coloured screw caps.
change them.
most of the time - 30 fixed penalty notice.

i have a german car and adopted the german type plate for a few weeks, got stopped and fined- rightly so.

changed back to clean, fresh and new standard ones,

i have to be honest , the amount of dodgy plates, fonts, spacing, screws in etc , and the new style ones.

its nice to see a clean set of older standard plates .

change em over dude, just not worth the fine or the hassle.
