Defermation of character??

Hello all, I've posted a query on the job section about a false allegation of bullying, my question to those who know some law is..... as the allegation was emailed to several people at work and has been proved to be a malicious lie, is this defermation of character and can I do anything about it? Taking action for a defamation claim is specialized and very very expensive. their is no legal aid available for defamation cases and if your working you wouldn't qualify for legal aid anyway. These case cost thousands.

If you have thousands your willing to give to a solicitor to take up a case, then go for it. Otherwise no you cant do anything

Might be worth asking your union whether they would fund a legal claim

Have you asked for the matter to be delt with by HR? Have you made a formal complaint about this and what was the outcome?
