oooh get a pic!

Im glad you got a result, even if it was the one you shouldve got in first place!
Hurrah!

Very well done.

Don't be abusive to the manager, you can be a lot more effective by keeping your cool and telling him just how poor he is at his job.

Then tell him just as you walk out the door. :)

Glad you have it sorted.
happyjo....don't blame the manager, he has to follow company 'policy'.
Thanks for letting us know happyjo- well done! xx

I will be calm personified... I promise

I will merely state that I require the refund that I am entitled to. Then I will tell the manager that I will not be giving them any more of my business - with 3 children, all wanting things like ipods, camera's and laptops for Christmas, my local Comet, had they used their common sense and dealt with this issue in a decent manner would have had my Christmas custom.

Terambulan- I worked as a retail manager for 10 years prior to doing my law degree, so know what it's like dealing with customers. The manager of said store could have easily championed our cause, dealt with head office and got us the exchange we wanted a week ago. Instead he was cocky, arrogant, and unwilling to help. I spent a good fifteen minutes trying to appeal to his better nature to help us and all I was met with was attitude.

I hope he got a severe bollo**ing for not using his nouse

Well done happyjo.

(I bet you used my "He is talking out of his bottom" phrase. So legalistic!!!)

We went to Comet and decided to exchange and get another laptop as opposed to a refund. The store manager was oh so accommodating ( although I expect he was talking thru gritted teeth).. My hubby refused to speak to them for fear of letting rip (verbally!!lol). I chatted to mr manager and told him that this dispute could have been avoided - and thanked him for his courtesy, then told him I will never ever spend a penny in his store again. I am sure he did not give a t@ss, but who cares?, it me feel good xxxx

Barmaid... Yes, I love that old chestnut... !!!
I said...go get em Jo..and you did, I never doubted for one minute that you wouldn't.
Happyjo, you indicated in your original post that you paid for the goods using your credit card. If so, you could have sought a refund from your credit card provider under S.75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. S.75 makes the creditor equally liable for any breach by the seller.
