My husband was in a band a few years back and just recently one of their songs was used in a TV for a well known company; great he thought, but there are major complications.
The master money has been shared out equally between the four members, but the lead singer is claiming all of the rights to the publishing half, even though he only wrote the lyrics and the other guys wrote the music with him. He is claiming that he has full rights to the money but the other members have a demo CD with the song on it that states the song was written by him and the band. Do they have a leg to stand on if they were to bring him to court is my question? Or will it just gobble up the money and be pointless?

There can be no harm in seeking an initial appointment with a solicitor who specializes, to see what the chances are. A legal letter might even chnge the persons mind i suppose.
