do you have to give 1 months notice to a landlord on the same date as your monthly rent is paid or can you give 1 months notice any time during the month.

It will depend on what your contract says. Mine specified giving notice on the day rent was due. However if you discuss with your landlord, he/she might be amenable to terminating on a different date and pro-rating the last months rent accordingly.

thank you kira, mine does not state an exact date but they are not playing. My rent due on 20th but gave notice on 27th and now they are saying it will have to be 20th of next month, hey ho

For Assured short-hold tenancies then unless anything is specifically stated in the agreement the notice should coincide with a due rent day
