2 charges of assault but I'm not guilty!!
2 months ago I was arrested for 2 charges of common assault after a night out. What happened was.... I had been out drinking for my girlfriend's friends 21st birthday. At the end of the night me and my partner had an argument in the street and she was shouting in my face so I pushed her away and walked off as I wanted to go home. Within a few seconds her friend grabbed me from behind and started to punch me in the back of the head, I crossed the road with her still doing this. When I had crossed to the other side she was still punching me in the back of the head at which point I turned half way and pushed her off me. She fell over and grazed her elbow. She is now pressing charges for assault. After pushing her off me I began to walk away to go home, within a few seconds a taxi pulled over and two lads jumped out. One lad decided to come right up in my face screaming and shouting at me pushing me backwards and wouldn't let me pass. So I tried to push him away so I could get past, at which point he started grabbing my clothes and pushing and pulling me about, so I started to push and pull him about trying to get him off me. At this point I fell over and fell on my back and he pinned me down and wouldn't let me get up, we were both still holding onto each other. After a few minutes he let me go and no sooner had that happened the police arrived and arrested me. This male is claiming I assaulted him by punching him in the head.
The girl who is pressing charges claims she slapped me once in the face and I pushed her over while the lad claims he saw me on top of her and saw me punch her at least twice in the face and then claims I have punched him. I would also like to add that my partner was a witness to the whole thing and our stories match up perfectly and we hadn't colluded at all during the time we gave our statements. What do you think will happen? This is my first offence and I do have a solicitor but just wanted to hear some advice. thanks!
