I live in a third floor flat (top), rented from the Housing Association. All the flats (8 of them) are council property. The back court is comunal area (bin area, washing lines). The residents who have recently moved into the ground floor flat on my side have now put up a CCTV Camera at their bedroom window facing the back court ie washing line.

Are they legally entitled to do this or is it worth my while approaching the Housing Association about getting them to remove it. The washing line area is also where I sit out when the weather is nice. Is them having this camera on not invading my privacy?

They can do it. They are entitled to install a camera that views their own property and areas they are entitled to use.
I assume they can see you in the courtyard just be looking out of their window or walking in to the courtyard. You are not in an area that is private to you.
