Broken Laptop- do I go to the shop or manufactor

Hi folks could do with a bit of advice. I bought a laptop from Comet in February it is overheating and switching off. Went on Acer website they said if bought from certain shops take it back there, Comet wasn't mentioned. Have e-mailed Acer 2 months ago and no reply. I think it it up to Comet to fix it am I right?

I would try Comet as they have always been good in replacing stuff in my experience.
I would also suggest that if you bought it using a VISA or Credit Card, then the Credit Card company are also partly responsible for iems over £100.
You should go to Comet as the retailer is responsible under "The sale of Goods Act" I had a similar problem with mail order and to cut a long story short I won after I advised them that we could sort it in the small claims court. I suggest you talk to trading standards as they are very helpful and will advise you how to write the appropriate if necessary.
