No. It isn't racist to describe a person as black, and there is nothing illegal about using the word black in the name of an organisation.

There are many such clubs - Irish Clubs, Polish Clubs, Jewish organisations, all sorts of clubs.
Many white artists have won the MOBO.

I think there is a thin line with regards to this. I would find the term 'White mans drinking club' offensive and I am white.

Quite right, hc, the NBPA does admit non-blacks.

Now imagine if a National White Police Officers' Association was set up and amid the howls of racism somebody siad, "ah but it's OK, as they do admit non-whites"

On a similar note, I think it's disgusting that my daughter's primary school no longer teaches the song 'Baa Baa Black Sheep', and we now find our self with Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep! The sheep was BLACK f.f.s not multi-coloured!

mine field this is. one thing i do disagree with is the whole way this country has changed. no little piggies song allowed anymore. not allowed to where england strips in school. our local swimming baths has a muslim only morning. now that surely cant be fair towards eveyone can it.

Anyway i think there is only one blackboard left in the school, in one of the history rooms, where a teacher, who looks the same age as my grandad (who is nearly 80) teaches.

We read to kill a mocking bird in english in january and had a big discusion about racism and stuff like blackboards and baba black sheep being classed as offensive. It turned out, that the only black person in the class agreed with us, that its rediculous and said that it would be like us saying songs with white in them are offensive such as whiter shade of pale. But could you imagine the outrage if there was a dark versio, there would be riots if a song called blacker shade of dark came out.
