can employer change my shift same day?

My employer asked me in the mornning if i want to change shifts i should work 7-3.30 but he asked me to stay till 9 . i do two shifts from 7 till9 have onli one per week in contract, i refused. They say i have to do that coz it is not up to me . Can they do that

If its a permanent change to your working pattern they must give you 4 weeks notice.
