Was the lion king originally a disney film or a play that diney made into a film cos there is the play aswell? wat was made first?

..the lion king film was made first by disney, then the stage show followed a couple of years later...

Actually, I'm sure the Lion King story itself was a rip-off of a Japanese tale, I might be wrong, but I think it was called Jungle Emperor Leo. So although diseny made the Lion King musical show after the film, the films origins are'nt Diseny's at all.

The Lion King film came out in 1994. Then Julie Taymor concieved and directed a stage version that came out in 1997, in America. Later it came to London. If you want some more info on this www.squidoo.com/thelionking is a good resource.

And also in response to Dreddnaught...the story of the Lion King is loosely based on Shakespeare's 'Hamlet'
