just trust your instincts gina
I'm very cagey with FB, gina - I have been messaged by people who I don't want to add, so I don't. I might message them back and tell them why, but I use FB mostly for looking at other people's photos. My profile is as private as I can make it.
I don't know, I don't have one.
It has it's good and bad sides. My family is spread out accross the country and it gives me a chance to see pictures of my newphews and nieces growing up. I've kept in touch with people from my past who might have otherwise stayed in my past. There have been those people who I didn't want to get in touch with again but it's easy enough to ignore requests and messages if you aren't interested.
agree milly, although how people can find you with high privacy setting is a bit odd at times
I agree with boxtops. I use it selectively. Some people put on every move they make...'Going to make a cup of tea'......'Feeling depressed so going out with my friends', etc. etc...Yawn. I think it has some advantages and a lot of disadvantages. Important to keep profile private as boxtops says.
I have never used it, my OH has found members of his family he ddn't know existed.
yogasun I have seen that, how utterly boring

I was looking at one a few days back, the person had posted that someone was knocking at the door. What?!

just been to the toilet
yada-yada-yada
Its o.k, I guess - I don't go on there much, but do have to laugh at how some, literally live there life on there - everything from 'I'm just eating a cheese sandwich' to 'have just had a wee' - hahaha
Facebook's for saddos who haven't got a life and who feel they need to impress people by having 374 'friends'
JL you are so right there x
It's nice for keeping in touch with my rather spread out family and friends. I wouldn't use it to just make friends with people or add people who I never wanted to keep in touch with in the first place.
All of my family have made up names on FB, known only to family, so that we can chat, post photos and news in one place.
Family only in our group. It works very well.
I'm fussy about who I befriend or not and if I don't know them then I refuse them. The exceptions are people I've 'known' and got on with for a long time in other forums, and one or two of my son's friends.

I have cousins all over the world and although I'm not terribly close to some of them it's nice to be in touch and know how they're doing.

Facebook has also brought me back in close touch with the girl who was my very best friend at school. We're back together as though the last 35 years never happened.
Also there are the FB attention seekers who write one line such as
'Well! What a trurn up for the book'
or something enigmatic like 'What goes around, comes around' just to get others to say What's up? or Are you OK honey?
It really is quite nauseating. The poster rarely responds, just likes to be a drama queen, yes it's nearly always female!
