Need to get a life

I am watching Kirstie's Handmade Britain for craft ideas. I seriously need to get a life (I still haven't attempted a hand made cushion from her last series yet - and I was going to make one for each of the kids).

I was so going to make the kids a cushion each (really, I was - but I am rubbish at crafty things) in my head I was going to make them really personalised and they would have them when they were pensioners. Still considering it now.

Oh sher!.....there's mor eto lofe and raising kids than making cushions!...would your kids like it if you were busy making cushions and not giving them your attention!.......don't worry about cushions, they aren't important!.....

My SIL is very talented and makes the most beautiful quilts by hand - and her own jewellery... clever lady.

As I can't sew, have no patience and I am not in the least artistic they are never going to get one - she just made it look so easy(ish) that I did seriously think about it. Would far prefer to be making something out of Lego (having a bit of gyp with the girlie stuff but will get there eventually).

My ex, who is wonderful and creative just not in a crafty way, was sewing a lovely Peter Rabbit wall hanging for our daughter before she was born- she's now 13 and it's still not finished, it happens when you have a big busy family;-)

Better to teach your things to be able to use a power drill, sher...

I can do practical - feel that they might be missing out on the girlie/mumsie stuff (my friend paints the girl's toenails and puts sparkly things on - she loves it and no one can see them so it's not tarty).

It sounds like you have a life many would give their eye teeth for Sherrardk.

I noticed the title of your thread because I've often wondered if I should get a life! I seem to spend a lot of time on AB. Then I realise I do lots of things with caring for my wife, day trips, pastimes, travel etc. When I organised day trips for groups of people I came across many who seem to do nothing more than watch TV all day and all night.

I have a life compared to them and you obviously do too, as do others who take an interest in such crafts and pastimes. Good luck with the cushion!
