Why do people hate the Beckhams?

Just read an article on the DM site and the main item in the story was the fact Victoria Beckham was yet again holding her baby daughter instead of having her in a pushchair, as if this was a bad thing.

Then it's filled with hundreds of comments below, mostly slating VB for some reason. I really do not get why people have such a dislike of her.

OK, so it might get a bit boring seeing their faces in the papers every day but they at least don't feel the need to sell their family photos to the highest bidder (not that they need the cash). She realised a while ago she isn't the best singer in the world so put her efforts into fashion, which she seems to have a knack for. I can't think of anything she has done that is so horrendous so why do people love to slate her so much?

Well no-one seems to think she can do fashion, I think she can.
She's had some bad outfits herself but I think her designs are, for the most, beautifully cut classics.
I think it was said that she made 12M profit in the last financial year.

I agree Craft. Everyone has fashion disaters, especially those at the top of the fashion game. I think some of her designs are gorgeous. Like I said before, wish I had the figure and bank balance for them.

Also, that's a good point about Katie Price. The woman who uses her name to get as many fingers in as many pies as possible.

She does a nice line in self-deprecating humour which I think gets misunderstood; and no-one will ever convince me that the brick-bats aimed at both of them are anything more noble than petty jealousies..

I get fed up of their pictures being constantly in the papers but at least I can see why they are considered celebrities. They had lives in which they had success, like them or not, they're not famous for being famous. BTW who are those Kardishans (or whatever) that seem to get mentioned, who did they play for or what records have they made?

K-Dash is just a girl about town, who's had various bit of career work, but is most famout for being a pal of Paris Hilton.

The paparazzi can't get enough of her, and are willing to pay her a lot of millions of dollars in return for photos.

It's a bit like advertising sunglasses, or underwear ...

If you can sell your own image, why would you not do so?

I have long been a big fan of the Beckhams and have never understood all the criticism. particularly of VB. Sure they had the thrones etc, but they've been married over 10 years - I for one can look back at things I wore or did 10 years ago and cringe, it's like they aren't allowed to make any simple mistakes. I also think she was tongue in cheek with the thrones, as others have said - whenever you see her interviewed she is very self-depreciating and funny.

I think they should be highly commended, they are constantly in the public eye (yes, some of which they court themselves) but they have brought up 3 lovely boys and stayed married in a world where people break up after just 70+ days of marriage and at least she has actually achieved things rather than traded on a sex tape. If I were their parents I would feel very proud.

I often think if something happened and she died she would suddenly become everyones heroine, and everyone would forget how they slated her - not that I want that to happen at all. But it happened before with Diana and Michael Jackson (hero, not heroine of course !)

I don't understand it either Evian, I think its jealousy and the fact that they're all happy.

I saw the interview with them both on Parkinson years ago and they came over a very happy couple. I someone being interviewed on Jonathan Ross a year or so ago and the lady he was interviewing said how impressed she was with the manners of the Beckham children and how polite they were. I think that's quite unusual in this day and age.

I remember two things that VB has said on tv, one referring to David as 'the man I am going to grow old with ...', and the second, where she said that if I was anything like the media portray me, even I would hate me!

Just about sums it up i reckon - they seem fine to me, but then I don't read gossip mags so they don't impinge on my life in the slightest.

My OH detests them especially David - can't understand why he loathes him so much, I think he is a really lovely man and a great father. I just wish Victoria would smile more, she looks permanently so miserable and it would transform her face! If I was married to David I would have a huge smile on my face! ;)

I've read these comments on the Mail online site and even posted one, but only because when she's carrying her beautiful baby she's wearing extremely high heels and platforms. The comments are about what would happen if she tripped in these heels or went over one one shoe, i.e. the poor baby would crash to the ground which doesn't bear thinking about. I am a fan of the Beckhams.
