So, Which claim these meters are v. expensive, and the current roll-out programme not very well designed.

I dont have one at the moment - Any of our contributors have one? If so, have they proved useful in monitoring/ controlling / reducing your energy consumption?
And, roughly how much does one have to pay for the meter and its installation?

I think that the energy supply companies are getting their money back through increased energy costs – and not by a one off fee for the installation of the smart meter.

At £11.1bn for 30 million homes works out at £370 per home; nice work if you can get it.
