In the film by David Lean, the opening sequence shows T.E. Lawrence riding his motorcycle when he encounters two children on bikes (off Camera), he swerves to avoid them and is thrown from his motorcycle. This event occurred in 1936. The movie then recalls his life as the British military adviser in the Middle East to Emir Feisal and the Bedouin. A 1960 the stage play "Ross" was filmed at the Royal Theatre, Haymarket in London for television viewing, however, this subversion does not portray his death and has rarely if ever been shown on Television.
