Is there any chance of seeing the Anglo -US production of the Russian novel again? It was filmed in the '70's and was enormously successful. Nicola Paget played Natasha.

And that's where Anthony Hopkins started making a name for himself playing Pierre.
In the BBC 20-part adaptation of 'War and Peace' of 1972, Anthony Hopkins, as you rightly say, played the part of Pierre, but Natasha was played by an actress named Morag Hood.  Other leading roles in it were played by Faith Brook, Alan Dobie, Basil Henson, Neil Stacy, Joanna David, Colin Baker, Frank Middlemass, Fiona Gaunt, Rupert Davies and Angela Down.  This information is from a Radio Times Special that I have.
I wonder if you are thinking of an adaptation of 'Anna Karenina' of about that period (or later) in which, if I remember right, the title role was played by Nicola Paget.  Eric Porter was her husband.

"War and Peace" can be found on eBay (VHS only) for around 40-50 judging by the "buy it now" prices.

"Anna Karenina" is available on VHS at about 17 for each of the 2 volumes (at Sendit, may be cheaper eslewhere).
