I was thinking along the lines of Danger UXB with Anthony Andrews, Maurice Roeves and Kenneth Cranham - or Soldier Soldier, Duchess of Duke Street, or House of Elliot they were beautifully scripted, a joy to watch - given up watching TV now, I might watch Attenborough on iPlayer but that's it.

House of Elliot is on ITV3 on Saturdays
TV series often age better in our memories than in actuality.

There may also be contractual difficulties.

Worth checking their availability on DVD.
some are, house of elliot was on quite recently,
Bouquet of Barbed Wire, Colditz, Arthur Haileys The Moneychangers with Spartacus ( sorry....ermm Kirk Douglas ) Tenko, and Lovejoy, in addition to your selections, spikey, would be welcome........better than countless repeats of Only Fools, which although great, gets boring if on constantly when you switch a station.

Got a 'Land Of the Giants' boxset for Christmas, so gonna re-live my yooooof in the next few months........I always fancied the two girls in it. :)
sometimes the programmes are on during the daytime, it's worth investing in a TV times to check to see, i definitely saw an episode of HofE recently.
like many old but good films, their licences have expired, so they are then sold onto movie, pay channels...
Broadcasters often don't have the repeat rights to many programmes. Those rights might simply be unavailable, too expensive or just hard to negotiate. (In many cases, every actor with a speaking part - even if it's only one line in one episode - has to agree a fee before the repeat rights can be issued. If just one actor doesn't want the series to be shown - possibly because he'd rather that current casting directors didn't see him in it - the rights can't be obtained).

I have the box sets of the ones I mentioned, HoE seems to be only two series long on Cable where in fact it ran for ten series on tv. I just thought it's a waste - they were good programmes with real believable stories, wonderful wardrobes,no punch ups, car chases or bad language, no reaching for mobile phones or stupid incredulous stories where the police turn up just in time because somebody thought it strange that person X was up to no good because they only bought a single ticket instead of a return..
Doesn't it tell those people who commission programmes that the reason why programmes like Firstt of the summer wine, Rock and chips, Downton, and that one with the nannies, old ones like Heartbeat were set in a gentler age, and that gives people a little escapism from drug-busts, bad language and the violence of the majority of programmes now.
Tutti Frutti with Robbie Coltrane and Emma Thompson.
I'd also like to see The Bill.
Lovejoy's repeated frequently on the channels like Dave or More4 or Yesterday.
Is it, boxy?...bugger....like Ian McShane :) x
They are all dull and boring.

I'm watching a new series which starts tonight. It is called 'The Following' and stars Kevin Bacon as an FBI agent.
Lovejoy is on most days and it's still quite good but has anyone caught the Bergerac repeats lately? The filming looks very poor quality.
oh when is that on daffy i like kevin bacon?
10pm on Sky Atlantic dot.
Yeah looks good, daffy...on Sky Atlantic.....think Kevin Bacon is such a good and underated actor....see his film, "Stir Of Echoes" if you havent already.....a good flick :0)x
Danger UXB was brilliant.

I read somewhere recently that It Ain't Half Hot Mum hardly gets repeated (if at all) because in one episode the Sgt Major(Windsor Davies) kicked one of the punkah wallah's and they're worried about the PC brigade 'going off on one'.
Pathetic.

You say dull and boring Daffy - and then say there's a new American show about the FBI? Please like we need another law/feds/cop show.
I never liked John Nettles, so i didn't watch Bergerac or Midsommer Murders.
