Anyone watching this on ITV now? It's very interesting and it got me thinking. How many people on here holds a Donor Card and if not, why not?

I'm not being judgemental just interested. I have one.

My Dad worked in theatre in the NHS. He believed that lesser people (his words not mine) were allowed to die to save better people, again his words not mine.
Gosh Jeza...how wrong your dad was. That is not how the transplant system works at all.
The system is so fair it's heartbreaking.
I'll have a think mum, will get it sorted after the driving licence and birth certificates (I am on the bone marrow transplant register so that should get me some brownie points from somewhere). Had suspected glandular fever so not sure if my offal would be wanted.
This was in the 70's gness, not know.
Where did the bloddy K come from.
Is there an age limit to this?
No lower or upper age limit AYG. Successful transplants have been performed using organs from people in their eighties.

Yes gness. Wasn't there a chap in his 80's just decided to donate one of his kidneys last year? Not quite the same thing but it shows that old age doesn't preclude donation.
I've got one.
Think you are right Chrissa. And a fit eighty year old could die with organs in better condition than a thirty year old drinking couch potato.
Well said Gness. I felt the same way once upon a time but now that my daughter works in the Visually Impaired Unit of a school as a brailler I have changed my mind. They can have the lot.
Be nice for a child to have your eyes rather than burning or letting them rot, Maggie.....Now question...would the person who got mine be destined to eye up builder's bottoms for ever?
I do carry a card, have done for years, but at my age I'm not sure if there'd be anything worth recycling.
Question Author
Whatever you have is no use to you after you've died. Statiscally, you are more likely to need a transplant than end up donating one. Interesting.
Question Author
Lol gness.
Sandy.....My OH got a slightly dodgy kidney. It saved his live and was better than no kidneys. You'll have something to make another person so happy. x
When I renewed my car tax online there was a form to fill in for donor registration, optional of course, but a good idea.
Question Author
And did you fill it in bundleone?
Yes, I did fill it and am now registered, I still have my original card in my purse
