Everyone has a favourite musical, what yours and which song from which musical is your favourite?

I have a few, I love Oliver and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the songs I'd do Anything for you, dear and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

I cry through every song in Les Mis enjy ,  I have to admit I also like Brigadoon (nobody laugh) I saw it in London on stage also.  Also Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas like The Mikado.

Same here Peri, Les Mis moves me everytime I hear it. Its my favourite! Love Jesus Christ superstar too, cause I'm a rock chick.

I've seen the Lion King twice and enjoyed it both times, but for me it's more of a "visual" than a musical.

The musical that left the greatest impression on me was Blood Brothers. I don't know if it counts as a song in its own right, but the narrator's "But you know the devil's got your number" bit chilled me to the bone and I couldn't get it out of my head for weeks. If there's anybody out there who hasn't seen this yet, do so.

indeed, blood brothers is a fantastic piece of theatre. i brought the soundtrack as soon as i walked out of the theatre and love it. also love the song 'Living/Loving on the Never-Never'

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned "Miss Saigon" I just managed to see it before it ended in the West End. I also loved Les Mis.Have seen it twice and look forward to seeing it again. Also enjoyed :- Grease

Just remembered one of the songs from Blood Brothers that made the most impression on me... Shoes Upon the Table. Sets the rest of the story up nicely.

I agree with cook1254, on stage Miss Saigon was the best.  I saw it twice and sobbed buckets both times.  I can't believe its no longer on. 

I don't like this modern idea of recycling old songs to make a musical - the Queen one, the Abba one etc.  Its cheap and easy.

There are many film musicals that I love.  As a child my fav was Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.  Now I find it harder to choose.  West side story would be up there, my fav song being the one with Anita and Maria after Bernado is killed.

Another fav is Hello Dolly (or basically anything starring Barbara Streisand) for a real singalong.  Funny Girl has some lovely songs in it.

Must agree with you lou about Barbra Streisand. I also saw Beauty and the beast on stage in London and it was fabulous.

That for me is the ultimate musical, Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor at their peaks...
Love the title song, Good Morning, Make 'Em Laugh, Moses Supposes - this movie is perfection.
The Band Wagon (just out on DVD, seek it out NOW) and Seven Brides For Seven Brothers are very close runners-up...

Have to agree with munchkin Singing in the rain is the ultimate in musicals esp. Gene Kelly's song and dance to the main title and Donald O'Connor running up the walls at the make em laugh sequence superb classic musical.

Hello Natalie. Mine is 'Fiddler on the Roof' and favourite sing is 'If I were a rich man'. I love the way Topol dances to it at the end!
