From its context in the programme I thought it might be like a 'gap' year sort of thing-travelling around the country.

It is just getting a cheap student round robin train ticket and touring. It is the sort of thing students do in Sweden & Norway etc.. Kinda like youth hosteling in lake district. so why was she doing it when the weather is about to turn cold? tune in next week for the thrilling expose!
