Was at friends the other night and this was on in the background, the last two episodes (9 & 10)of this.

Wasnt able to pay too much attention but I could have sworn that i heard Mozarts Requiem Mass in Dm being played in one of the scenes where it all seems to be going pear shaped for Henry.

Being this was during the early to mid 1500's and the Mass was written in the late 1700's I was a bit surprised as the other music I heard was of the period or thematically composed for the programs.

anybody else notice this or was I hearing things ?

I think The Tudors TV show is famous for taking liberties with history.

I believe in one episode someone was shown shooting a pistol that was not invented until about 200 years later.

And many characters and events have been changed, altered, adapted, merged etc. to make the series easier to follow or more exciting.

I see it as nothing more than a soap opera, using the Tudor characters to "hang" the stories off.

See the Wikipedia enter here, under "Departures from History" to see how much they have changed actual history.

Im still trying to forget the image of the man being lowered from the ceiling into boiling fat, and consequently being boiled alive! eewww
By watching The Tudors, I now understand what is meant by Hang, Draw and Quartering!! I don't think that it was particularly accurate historically, but I enjoyed watching it, if it only was to consider how good-looking Jonathon Rhys-Meyers is - and it's done Henry Cavall's career no harm either! I still must try and get round to watching series one though - does anyone know if it is being shown anywhere?
Much of it is inaccurate but they have to find some way of dramatising it to make it appealling. I've got the whole box-set :o)

The torture and execution scenes are pretty horrific and sadly they did occur in real life :o(
Don't forget that they also show it in the USA i believe !.
Islasmum, you have just missed the complete re-run of series 1-4 on BBC2... :(
Fantastic series and I also understand the Tudors more than I ever did at school, but I hated history. Made even more pleasant by the gawjuss JRM !

all the series 1-4 are easily available on the usual torrent sites.

I d/loaded the last two episodes to try and check on the music I heard.....the copies I d/loaded were from a previous screening, not the current BBC2 screenings...

It seems that the BBC have dubbed music on to the current screenings for effect because there is nothing remotely like the Requiem that i clearly heard as I watched it on TV.
Purple Popple, I caught series 2,3 and 4 recently on BBC2, just managed to miss Series 1!
>>>Don't forget that they also show it in the USA i believe !.

It was MADE by a USA TV company, Showtime.
