Giving up £40,000 for each show, so that he can play more golf!

Good for 'im.

Wish I was, giving up £4000 would be nice as well.

Am off tomorrow to play the hallowed links around nungate's and Queenies' palace next week, meandering through the countryside to get there....
Well he has been doing MOTD for 22 years, and I believe he currently "earns" 1 million a year (though I am sure they could fill the role by paying FAR less).

So even if he was not earning 1 million a year when he started, he has probably earned say 10 to 15 million pounds since working for the BBC.

If you add on money made from adverts, endorsements, etc etc he is probably worth a fair bit, so why work.
Alan Hansen is not "giving up" his job as such,I believe he was due to sign a new contract at a much reduced salary and has declined.
