Not the same without Ronnie Barker, David Jason wasted on this, trying too much to re-enact the original, not many corner shops now where the owner wears a brown overall wasn't impressed with the shopper wanting something for a rash, why didn't he go to the chemist with a prescription. I am just not keen on remakes!

I thought David Jason was playing Arkwright's brother who had taken over the shop when Arkwright died ?? Have I got it wrong?

I didn't see it, but Ronnie Barker was so unfunny, I'm surprised it was worse. David Jason does have a sense of humour. Perhaps because it was the same writer? It was old-fashioned first time round.

Sorry I have to agree,David Jason was awful on tonights Still open all hours, mind you his last comedy for the beeb was "The Queens Bodyguard" was also awful apparently the beeb were desperate to keep him and not lose him to ITV. With tonights effort I would recommend him to consult his solicitors for that new ITV contract!

I'm going to disagree.... I really enjoyed it though the banter between Ronnie Barker and David Jason was missing.... If there's to be more they will have to do something about that. Loved seeing Mavis back and Mrs Featherstone... how come she looks younger now than she did 30 years ago... hope they make more
