Anyone watch this last night and what do you think of it? Robson Green is always worth watching but I must say I think he was overshadowed by the actor who played the priest. Yummy Yummy :-) He played a very sadistic rapist in Happy Valley so I can't imagine why someone would then cast him as a priest, but I'm glad they did.

I didn't watch it, but saw from the trailers that it featured the rapist/kidnapper from Happy Valley. I felt bad for fancying him in HV.
I thought the priest was yummy too. Never been a fan of Robson Green, but stuck with it and am looking forward to the next episode.
Enjoyed it, the actor who played the rapist in Happy Valley was very plausible as a baddy and a goody
I was looking forward to it having read the books and it was very good .
I'm always a bit dubious when they make a series from a book but it was very true to them .He's just as I imagined him and Robson Green was good too.

Cloverjo I must admit I did fancy him in HV but didn't like to say!Is it ok to fancy him as a priest? :-)
Question Author
I mean, apart from all the fancying going on, I thought the programme was good too.
I was really looking forward to it as I too like Robson Green but switched over as I found it quite boring, a bit midsomer murders or miss marple, neither of which I like.

Ethandron I know what you mean, but I am very shallow and I sometimes watch programmes if they have a bit of male tottie in them. Shame on me I know, but I'm wondering whether I will still watch Homeland when it comes back on our screens just because Damien Lewis won't be in it anymore.
Boring. I have yet to find a British crime series to come up to the standard of DCI Banks which I reckon to be the finest ever beating Morse, Lewis & any number of other so called crime series.
Loved DCI Banks
I thought DCI Banks was dreadful. Stephen Tompkinson is such a wooden actor and his portrayal of Banks was nothing like the books at all.
See how we differ.....Tompkinson ruined Banks for me.....loved the books... detested the programme.....

Barsel...fancy the priest all you like.....my friend and I were watching the am dram production of The Wiz....and were both very much turned on by the performance of the gay chap playing the Tin Man..... ☺..x
I didn't like the programmes of Banks and that has put me off reading the books.
Quite enjoyed, Grantchester. Gentle viewing while I do my crosswords.
Read the DCI Banks books. As others have said, Stephen Tompkinson is just not right, and the series lost a lot from the books.
Question Author
gness you have made me smile with that. Do you know his name? :-) x
the banks books are great - the programme imo was rubbish. i wasn't all that with granchester, will see how it develops.

Prime suspect & trial & retribution now they were good
I do Barsel.....in fact he was a friend....and I didn't fancy him till he donned the Tin Man costume....we lost touch until last year when I was leading some prayers at a funeral....he was the undertaker leading the coffin in...spotted me and blushed.
That made us both laugh.....and unpopular with Sister Martha......☻
Question Author
A gay undertaker who wears the Tin Man's costume? Ah well each to their own. :-)
Oh gosh....what does that say about me...I fancied him!.... :-(
gness, have you got a tin opener?
