Yes, but I don't really like the choice of actress to play Demelza. I don't expect it to be exactly the same as the first as they always make several changes.
I too was totally entranced by the original series.
I will give the new one a go, but doubt it can stand up to the first one.
Do not like the look of the actor playing Ross Poldark at all.
Robin Ellis was just great in the role.
Hope they don't go for the mumbling voices like Jamaica Inn last year....it'll be switched off pretty quickly in this house if they do.
Robin Ellis is in the new production as the Rev Halse .
I'm looking forward to it .Good cast.Phil Davis is going to play Judd and of course the lovely late Warren Clarke is in it .
I loved the original though and still watch it from time to time on DVD.
Why compare it to something that was on 40 years ago? Of course it's going to be different, and will introduce the characters to a new audience. Don't knock it until you have seen it...and be open-minded.
I never saw the original, we were living overseas so I am looking forward to it. Somewhere I have read that they won't do accents as it would be too confusing! As far as remaking the story, there must be many people, young people unlike me, who never saw the original.
I absolutely loved Poldark - read all the books and fell in love with Robin Ellis as Ross. I'm looking forward to the new series with the very gorgeous Aiden Turner - amazing eye-candy! MMMmmmmm
I was at University when the first series was shown so never watched it,although I have read and enjoyed all the books. I can't wait for the new series!!! Aidan Turner will make a great Ross. Why prevent people from enjoying something just because it had good memories for people and a particular actor was in it? Rather selfish for those new to it and without previous opinions. New audience/new series.
