She had me in tears too, bednobs. I only watched the last part of it - but when I think of the idiots who don't appreciate what that generation did I seriously want to knock their blocks off!

Even Jane Horrocks was in tears at the end. I think that soldiers today have to write a last letter home in case they are killed in action.

I wonder what will happen on 2nd September, will those fighting and prisoners in the Far East continue to be forgotten? My father was eternally bitter about being forgotten, seeing all the "end of the war" celebrations while they were still in the thick of it. His "boss", Lord Mountbatten once addressed them with the words, paraphrased, You think you're forgotten , you're not forgotten, the majority don't know you even exist.
