Am I to read into this that the BBC is in fact a social work branch supporting those who believe they have a talent but really don't? As the 80's song might have gone: BAME! I'm gonna live for ever......

The world (and the BBC) are very different places compared to the late 70s and early 80s. I'm not sure Mr Henry's argument that we might miss out on a major talent if the BBC is forced into a major change, carries much weight.
I can live with that :-)
Major talent? Major ego more like!

I think Sir Lenny Henry will survive thanks to his acting and stand up. Maybe Channel 4 will take up Comic Relief?

The wheels are coming off the 'independent' letter that Len and some of his fellow troughers sent to the PM (via the papers)

I would like the BBC to be saved.
Cheers Svejk. :-)
The point is that the government are trying to limit and control the types of programme that the BBC can make. This is unacceptable in a free market which makes the government hypocrites. Also,as the BBC basically invented broadcasting, and thus grammes that are currently made,to try to force them into a niche is to diminish one of the greatest achievements of this country and that threatens it's future. I am disgusted by this government and I appreciate the actions of entertainment industry who are trying to protect what is basically one of the cornerstones of our nation and something we should be proud of.
