Do men, even best pals, carry on in this way when one moves a few miles away? It was cringe making to say the least.

It's a Bromance, lyn. And, it's across the water. Lol.
Steve and Lloyd who?
Coronation Street I presume.
Jersey is more than a few miles away from Wetherfield/Manchester.
It did seem a bit over the top I thought but maybe some good mates are like that
I think you have to remember that scenes like this have a degree of reality because one of the actors is leaving the show in real-life. As I understand that Simon Gregson (Steve) is off for an extended leave of a good few months, this obviously applies here.

Having worked so closely together in the drama, I'm prepared to believe that the pair of them showed their real emotions in the episode and I don't find anything wrong with that.
on the live show "eileen" did well up for real,
I don't agree that it was cringe making. They are obviously very good friends and as MT says, they are obviously very good friends and have worked together for 10 years.
Does anybody know why Steve is off for a while ?
Health reasons, I recall. He has suffered with depression among other things in teh past I recall. (Or was this his character)
His character suffered from depression, but is it for health reasons then ?
Right, thanks ff.
Lloyd (Craig Chales) has left Corrie with no plans to return - yet.
They needed to grow up!!
