many many when I was a WAG..nicest were Pele..George Best and Henry Cooper..Bruce Forsyth was nice too....Karl and Stuart from Most Haunted last week were lovely
Met George Best several times too Minty. At his nightclub in Manchester and then in Edinburgh when he played for the Hibeees. Also, my cousin in Manchester was a fashion photographer and he used GB quite a few times on shoots. He was a lovely lovely man. Very quiet, very sad.
In the 60's my wife and I were hosts to Lonnie Donnigan and his band group. This was at the Sergeants Mess in RAF El-Adam in north Africa. After the event we invited Lonnie and his group to our home,Lonnie declined as he had been invited to the Officers Mess however the group accepted and we had a great night which lasted into the early hours.
Loads of them live here in Ibiza, and in the 70's we all mixed together, ie Denholm Elliott, Leslie Phillips etc and they were fun and normal and not up themselves at all.
Also been to John Hurt's house and he is absolutely lovely, there are several more and all very nice.
I remember RAF El Adem very well. In 1969 I was sent there on a fortnight's detachment with the Parachute Squadron from RAF Colerne. I was an accounts clerk. We started work at 7 but finished at 1. I was on the RAF quiz panel on a radio show in Tobruk. As soon as I got home there was a revolution and Gaddafi took over.
My sister-in-law served Gemma Craven many years ago in a wet fish shop and she did not like waiting her turn in the queue and came out with the old cliche...'Do you know who I am?'
I've said it before but,Alan Shearer,Arrogant,Ignorant and so far up his own bum you wouldn't believe, except when there is a Camera nearby,of course.!!
I used to meet famous people (Some of them at the time were current and ex-Footballers for Middlesbrough Football Club, so they might just be people I would have known) in the Sports shop I used to work in - just used to treat them like normal customers, which they were. The only one who was a total d*ckhead was Lee Cattermole - he plays for Sunderland. Came in the shop twice with his Father, and acted worse than a naughty child. Really wanted to knock him out.
We met Mo Moreland of the Roly Polys outside the Theatre in Great Yarmouth where they were supporting Michael Barrymore (This was 1986) and she was lovely. She spoke to us for about 5 minutes.
I met Jason Donovan two weeks ago - he's lovely
I was just thinking of some actors I met a couple of years ago Paterson Joseph and Ray Fearon in Julius Casaer and Don Gilet and Ian Reddington who were in bouncers - all very very nice men and quite easy on the eye - Am I allowed to say that?
When my mother in law worked in a hotel they asked her to look after one of the guests who was quite ill with a chest infection. They specifically asked her as she looked so like the guest. After a few days her husband who was serving in the fleet army (??) came to visit. She always said after that no photographs ever gave any justice to the beauty of Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier. She had their autographs too which she always promised me but I never got them.
I have met quite a few and they have all been nice apart from John Thaw who was obnoxious.
I was walking down a street minding my own business when I turned a corner and walked smack bang into the middle of a scene he was filming for Kavanagh QC. He gave me a mouthful of abuse and I ended up telling him to go forth and multiply.
He was only about 5'2" tall - small man syndrome
