He`d hardly started on his speech when he commented on the "love between Roman Catholic priests and lawyers" He`s an intelligent man - does he think that by making contraversial comments which have nothing to do with the subject matter he is being funny and entertaining? He undermines himself IMO

When I was diagnoses in 1996 I thought that I just have to take some medication and all would be well in the world. Didn't work.


I watched the Baftas and didn't notice that remark about the Catholic priests. I thought his comment about the choice of outfit for the winner of the Best Costume award was unnecessary, though.
Did anyone else think there should be a mention of Terry Wogan, as he's interviewed so many film stars?
As Mamya has already stated, Stephen's comment was pertinent to the film "Spotlight", which proves that many many people were aware of paedophilia amongst Catholic priests, but nothing was done about it for way too long.
(Peter Cook, when asked what he'd done at public school replied that he'd spent most of his time avoiding ***).
When Alec Guinness played Father Brown, he was enchanted by an incident when he was on his way to the film set. He was in full priests garb, walking down the road, when a small boy ran up and walked beside him, putting his hand in Alecs' hand, thinking that he was a real priest. No conversation passed between them. When Alec reached the film set, the little boy simply walked off, waving and smiling.
Such trust...
