Are We Living In A Golden Age Of Tv Drama And A Bronze Age Of Tv Comedy

This was put to me by a friend (who works in telly) at a bar last night, and I think he has a point.

I can't remember a time when there was so many excellent dramas on tv, and so few good comedies.

Personal opinion (obviously), in the past few years, we've had:

Modern Family is probably the funniest programme ever, IMO.

There's not much on TV at the moment for me though, I'm even getting bored with Good Wife which has quite surprised me.

Looking at that list, I realise just how little television I actually watch. I've only seen three of those programmes - one of them being Downton Abbey which I gave up on very early on.

The bronze beeb has a revamped Are You Being Served? now in the making, as well as its reboot the BBC are rumoured to including Keeping Up Appearances, Porridge, The Good Life and Up Pompeii!

I don't think there is one prog. on SP's list that I have watched, usually I can find something better to do and that includes navel gazing ;o)

I've only seen five of you list but only breaking bad (Of the five) doesn't take itself too seriously a bit like 'Supernatural' thats the a tongue in cheek kinda humor I like.

As for comedies, I'm sure Birds of a feather had a revamp in the past few years... I bet that was hilarious.

Comedy, is subjective but there is very few original laugh out loud moments these days, possibly The Brink. A notable omission, in my opinion, is Person of Interest which I would rate 2nd behind GOT. Worthy of a mention are Occupied and 100 Code. Keep an eye out for 22.11.63.
