//I remember being very amused by the jingles put out on TV by The Scaffold: "Use your old coppers in sixpenny lots" and "Give more - get change", as a way to supposedly help older people to weather the change.//

The Scaffold.
In early 1971, they provided some catchy tunes for inclusion in a television publicity campaign heralding the introduction of decimal currency to the UK. In this series of five-minute programmes, titled Decimal Five and shown on BBC1, they sang such inspired lyrics as "Give more, get change" and "Use your old coppers in sixpenny lots".

I remember it as the start of the great rip off.Even from day one most shopkeepers disliked the ½p and rounded everything up,then when prices went up by 1-2p people were still be thinking in "old money" that it was only a penny when in fact it was twice that. Some people might laugh but it added up I was getting about £15.00p a week as a face electriction and that was top money, some people outside of mining were getting a lot less.
I think you may mean the public information film, which was shown every evening on BBC1 before the news.
