Yes I know it's a soap before anybody says it ! But last nights episode with Billy's reaction to Les's dressing up surprised even me. Yes I know he was shocked but to call him a pervert was really uncalled for I thought.

That's what I thought. At one point I was beginning to think that Billy had got completely the wrong end of the stick and was thinking that Les was doing something much worse. Very strange

It would be nice to think that but think of all the hooraw about which loos transgender folk should use.

I don't watch EE, but dip in very occasionally, and I have picked up the transvestite story line.

As a rule, soaps do like to try and reflect modern attitudes, and sadly, the reaction to the sight of a transvestite is likely to be shock and anger, such as I assume was exhibited by Billy - ?

People who can accept others' behaviours when perceived as unusual or deviant are in the minority, sad to say, but I am willing to bet that EE will use this as an opportunity to educate people about what transvestism is, and more importantly, given the bad press it receives - what it is not.

We shall see.
